California's Salinas Valley is more than just the "Salad Bowl of the World", and home to the California Rodeo. It also has the distinction of being the birthplace of John Steinbeck. Born in Salinas in 1902, Steinbeck wrote many of his novels about the farming communities and peoples of the area and set many of his novels within the Salinas Valley.

Having grown up in Salinas I decided to put up some information about the area known locally as "Steinbeck Country". There is a small collection of photo's which I have taken of the Salinas area (all ©1998 John M. Brewer) as well as some links to a few sites with more detailed information about John Steinbeck and the Salinas Valley. Over time, I will be adding more images and probably more links.
